My sister first introduced me to the idea of color analysis.  Well, it was actually my grandma when I was about 11 years old but I thought she was just "being a grandma" (if you know what I mean!)

During the Spring of 2022, my sister had a virtual analysis done and we were so intrigued by the results.  She was typed as a Soft Summer and we quickly started learning what her best colors were.  Shortly after her analysis, I also did a virtual one through the same company.  My experience was not as seamless as hers, and frankly didn't leave me feeling like I understood my analysis well at all. It just didn't seem to 'fit'.  I tried to ask questions to better understand, but didn't get anywhere.  So, I decided an in-person analysis would be the next step in my journey.

In July 2022, I had a color analysis appointment with a local House of Colour consultant.  It was such a wonderful experience!  And while she also typed me a Winter - like my virtual analysis had - she found me best suited in the darker Winter colors compared to the bright jewel tones my first analysis suggested.

I didn't fit neatly into either the Burnished or Sultry sub-seasons but definitely looked and felt my best in the deep, rich colors of the Winter palette.  Once I had these answers, and saw the analysis unfold before my own eyes, I felt excited and ready to start building my new wardrobe.

As a 'recovering Autumn', I had many, many things to get rid of from my closet.  It was full of brown, khaki, mustard yellow, olive green and rust orange.  I quickly became very comfortable spotting Winter colors in-store and found myself collecting notes on my phone about information, retailers, colors, and more.  So, it just seemed natural to start sharing this information with my fellow Winters.  And one September morning when I was awake long before my alarm was scheduled, I created burnished.sultry.winter on Instagram.  The rest, they say, "is history"...
