Clothing Style Search Terms

As I've been exploring my most recent style analysis results, I've found myself spending a lot more time searching Pinterest, Etsy and Poshmark for specific pieces to add to my wardrobe. I've also found myself frustrated with the blah, mainstream results being pushed (mostly by paid ads). I'm not looking to add more of the same, but sometimes it can be difficult to describe really specifically a certain item or style to get the results you want. I did a quick poll on my Instagram one day and you all said this is challenge for you, too. So, I've been collecting description words to build this search term library.
While many of the terms have come through searching for items I would wear, I have done some research to add a variety of terms that cover a broad range of style preferences. I am certainly not an expert, but this feels like a good start!
Because this list is aimed at helping people build their own closet to reflect their personal style, it doesn't include some generic/basic terms that are more commonly known. As a starting point, here are a few articles that cover some foundational words not included in this post:
I've grouped the search terms into sections:
Style Type - think clothing personalities, genres, style archetypes
Patterns + Details - this is a print or pattern on the item, usually dyed but sometimes adhered/applied
Fabrics + Materials - these are specialty fabric types generally suited for particular styles and essences. This is not a list of cotton and polyester, it is much more specific :)
Fits + Shapes - here we are describing details about the fit of the garment
Clothing Pieces/Types - again, trying to zero in on more specialty pieces of clothing that you may not know the name of or perhaps haven't even seen before!
For ease, search terms within each category are sorted alphabetically.
